Grand 1905 Edwardian
This soulful 1905 Edwardian had suffered many insensitive alterations before our clients’ purchase. Our team focused its renovation on improving layout and light flow throughout, adding spaces for indoor-outdoor living, and tailoring thoughtful features to suit their busy family of five.
After a substantial excavation to allow room for a new rear patio and landscaping, we opened the back wall of the family room, adding folding glass doors to maximize access to nature and a Dutch door into the kitchen. On the second level, we converted the former primary bedroom—a disjointed group of rooms along a dead-end hallway—into two sunny children’s bedrooms with one bath en-suite and another on the hall. The new, more gracious primary suite now sits at the rear, featuring a private seating nook in the adjoining turret, an ample bath, a large walk-in closet, and a fully-appointed private office with a balcony over the new patio. On the top level, we preserved the dramatic vintage staircase, then removed walls that comprised the former service quarters to create a graceful children’s play area with hidden toy nooks, an ample second home office, and two fully appointed bedrooms with a shared bath.
