Reborn Queen Anne
Haight Ashbury, San Francisco
Built in 1891 by John Whelan of the nearby Four Seasons houses, this imposing Queen Anne Victorian perched on an up-sloping lot above San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury had suffered years of considerable deferred maintenance and insensitive renovations. Compelled to save it, our clients tasked us with creating a 21st Century version of the house that retained and enhanced its vintage DNA while updating its spaces and flow for contemporary living. We designed an interior renovation on all levels that netted a final 4,400 square feet, including rear and first floor additions (with required site excavation), a new front stair, restored and relocated original stone sinks, and infrastructure improvements sitewide.
